Perez Hilton Copycats: Joe Hollywood
With the rise of the blogging system and with the rise of Mario Lavandeira a.k.a. Perez Hilton many people around the net started to emulate him upt o point that Perez has his own army of followers that can’t go with a serious side of Entertainment Journalism but rather a low form where copying information from other website and spreading gossips without a reliable source and even going to speculate the most fantastic things; a good Reporter even a gossip reporter should have some integrity toward the subjects he takes, the people he interview and how he handles the information without ever putting his judgment on the information his giving with the exception of opinion articles and even with those articles he should be careful (even bloggers should know this information if they want some authenticity and respect from their peers) and not self validate themselves toward an ego-centrism that only takes toward the work you make.
Unfortunately with the rise of Perez Hilton everyone that thinks they can rise to fame instantly in a
business that is hectic and treacherous and that can damage a writer reputation if he or she acts like a child; one of the most recent copycats of the dubious Perez Hilton style is none other than Joe Hollywood a 20 something individual who’s biggest idol is none other than Perez Hilton (if you are a journalist and your role model is a man who self congratulates himself of being a reporter, then you have to start thinking your priorities better and have a change in the career if you don’t want your reputation to be ruined). It’s difficult to think that Joe as many other clones have some degree of originality because Perez and his clones tend to copy everything they see on TMZ.com or other gossip websites and even checking on Joe’s website (which he updates irregularly) all of the gossip its extracted from TMZ.com even the infamous reunion of Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson.
As a reporter myself and one that has already worked in the media and being a blogger the rules between the two concepts of Journalism and Blogging aren’t different at all because you are exposing your point of view to the public and you have to be organized and sincere about what you say not to mention that you have to have a good relation with your sources because the sources are the chore of journalism not too mention that you have to discriminate the information before publishing something. But what information can get Joe Hollywood that is fresh and new? I don’t know and I can’t see that he can’t because not even the biggest joke on the internet can without relying on “borrowing” from other sites and even if he says that he’s going to be tasteful and honest.
