Polemic Continues of Colombian Musician Juanes Concert in Cuba
Not many artist go to Cuba to play their music because of the taboo that is around the island and the dictatorship by the Castro brothers; but a few celebrities worldwide had broken the taboo and went to the island to promote art and something different regarding worldwide culture and even John Paul the 2nd went one time to office a mass so maybe after 50 years of “revolution” there is hope for forgiveness but then why now when Colombian artist Juanes is planning a concert next September 20 why people are attacking him (along with Miguel Bose) by saying hurtful quotes if it’s going to be a concert with no cost to the people of Cuba.
People tend to attack the people who are trying to improve the ties with a country that for half of the 20th century had severe most of his ties with the modern world because their leader was shallow enough to implement a so called revolution to gain more money and power while the people suffered and at the same time buying the crap of the social revolution that the only winners were a few individuals.
The concert will be held in the Plaza of the Revolution (Plaza de la Revolucion) along with several other artists including Olga Tañon and Cuban musician Silvio Rodriguez. Cuban exiles in Miami had reacted negatively to the September 20 concert stating that Juanes is supporting the dictatorship of the Island but those exiles need to think that even in the island they can have some fun without being political or supporting the dictatorship of the Castro brothers.
