The Pop Culture of Gus Lequerica

I cannot believe that the fourth movie of this dying franchise revitalized the franchise completly and according to the firm Exhibitor Relations the film is head to head with Rob Zombie Halloween 2. So far this is one of the films of the Final Destination series that has topped number one in the box office even surpassing the previous installment Final Destination 3 and has reached US$28.3 million dollars in just two days. How a movie that has used the same formula over and over has reached US$28.3 million dollars in just one weekend it’s impossible to know because in many horror/ gore fan circles the fans despise the Final Destination movies because they lack of originality.

It’s amazing to think that this movie who hasn’t revolutionized the horror/ supernatural genre has reached that quantity of money in just 48 hours but maybe fans and movie goers aren’t expecting too much of the horror cinema lately and they just want to go to something that they don’t have to think too much as the reason is much of the Final Destination movies aren’t original like the 70’s, 80’s and Gallo movies as the new producers and writers they just want to shock people with a few gore and blood shows instead of making them think about the modus operandi of the killer even if the killer is Death herself. These developers aren’t masters of horror they are just amateurs with a big budget. 

Final Destination 4th dethroned Inglorious Basterd that opened last weekend by just 8 million dollar but so far not worldwide because the movie of Quentin Tarantino has grossed US$70 millions world wide. Halloween 2 is in 3d place by US$17 million dollars, followed by District 9 which has grossed US$10.7 million dollars and in fifth place G.I. Joe which has earned US$ 8 million dollars (truly a ticket bomb). My score 2 over 5 stars I just had enough by reading the recap in wikipedia I don’t even recommend watching this movie because it’s just a waste of time just like the second and third part.

Kimmi Raikkonen won over the sloppy Belgium Gran Prix over Giancarlo Fisichella, this is the fourth victory of the Finnish over the last four Formula One in the circuit SpaFrancorchamps. Raikkonen who was in the sixth place in the classificatory point but that wasn’t a problem because Kimmi over passed Fisichella by positioning his car during the first lap and winning the title by just 0.09 to the Italian.

Die the way you lived; according to TMZ.com Police reports said that a bag of crack was found near the groin area of the late D.J.; and a crack pipe was found in his bedroom. Truly sad because he was a talented individual but also a victim who never got help to recover fully. If you know someone that you see he or she needs help offer your companionship and your help because one of the best tools an addict can have is the support of the people that care about him or her.

With today’s death of D.J. A.M. and roughly after one year of the incident that almost cost his life D.J. A.M died under undetermined circumstances but related according to police reports to some drug incident. Many celebrities, bloggers like the guys from TMZ.com and Perez Hilton had expressed their condolences and grief to the D.J. dead; because according to many sources Adam Goldstein a.k.a. D.J. A.M. was close to many people in the circle of powers as well he was a generous man and someone that the public could relate to but all this situation let me think of the movie “Final Destination 1″ where the survivors tried to escape from death but death found them (it make me wonder if Travis Barker is going to be the next one? Because well he is that last one of the survivors).

Police said that there were no evidence of foul play or any attack but rather they found some drug paraphernalia in the D.J. apartment. My condolences go to Adam family and friends. He’ll be truly missed.

Actress and activist Alicia Silverstone is going to launch a cruelty free makeup line after creating a make up range who is eco-friendly; the products will going to be launched at the end of the year and Alicia says “They are completly cruelty free and made from recycled materials like bamboo and hemp”.

As the soft core porn movies of the 70 who became popular in the mainstream like Caligula and Behind the Green the Door, in the 2000’s people like Paris Hilton have became popular for doing nothing and for their amateur porn videos and now following a trend in porn Miss Hilton is going to have her porn spoof really soon.

Paris probably is well known in the underground for her One Night In Paris xxx video (which is only something really dull, loveless and filled with more sucks than a baby to a bottle) Hustler decided to do a small spoof of Miss Hilton life by doing something that mixes between porn and comedy. The Porn-Comedy is going to be started by Eden Adams; the DVD is going to be filmed with a gonzo style following the example of E! True Hollywood Stories in which is going to be set by doing some interviews mixed with some spicy comedy sequences in which the Paris wannabe let her imagination to go wild in some imaginative lesbian scenes between the actress who will portray Nicole Richey and Kimbery Stewart.

I rarely post gossip but this time if this piece of information it’s true I guess it will be something everyone was expecting. According to some people close to Avril and her hubby Deryck (the lead singer of former pop sensation Sum 41) are heading to an imminent divorce really soon because both parties have spent time away from each other and insiders say it’s nothing like a separate vacation as Avril has been from party to party and Deryck spending time away from Avril like if he wasn’t married. I guess anyone won’t be surprised if this news becomes official.

Utopia X Chapter Five: No doubt Matt Fraction is truly an amazing writer but he should better explain the gaps between the story such as The Beast kidnapping and the so called reunion of Emma Frost, Scott Summers and Namor to bring down Norman Osbourne but maybe those interrogations are going to be answered in the next issue.

The story so far has been developing ok, there has been many twists and spins that probably it’s way much better than last year Secret Invasion because there’s tension and the surprise factor behind every page but like it was said it’s good that Matt Fraction explains several gaps of the storyline so he can end it with a gold medal as this arc has been one of his best works so far.

The art of Luke Ross is quite charming but is not the best asset of the Dark Avengers comic, I don’t mean he has to draw like Alex Ross but to try something more defined and less cartonish because there has been an evolution in the comics and we are far away from the pin up girls of the 1950’s.

Overall this issue is a 4 over 5 stars and let’s hope that next issue there are some improvements in the art as well in the story because the fans we are eager to read the conclusion of Utopia X.

One of the most interesting Terry Goodkind novels settled in the world of The Sword of Truth except that it’s set in an alternative time frame from the rest of The Sword of Truth storyline. Debt of Bones focus more on the First Wizard Zeddicus Z’ul Zorander but through the eyes of a non gifted individual a woman by the name Abigail who explores the world of magic after the D’Hara kidnapped her daughter and husband & destroyed her village. The center of the story focus on the interaction between Abby and the First Wizard and how two different individuals can work together to improve the world even if the have little in common. Debt of Bones is a good novella to start with the series of The Sword of Truth because it offers a good way to introduce to the reader to the universe created by Terry Goodkind and as many novels by Terry it includes heavy elements of “objectivism” where reality it’s explored through epistemology and Metaphysical concepts of the spiritual world and the empiric world much like people of the Renaissance were trying to put peace between spirituality and science.

I really think this is one of Terry’s best work so far and I highly recommend reading Debt of Bones if you want to be initialized to Terry Goodkind work.

California Governor and husband to Maria Kennedy Shriver Arnold Schwarzenegger paid a tribute to late U.S. Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy, who died on Tuesday. Ted, a Democrat, the last brother to be alive of the late U.S. President John F. Kennedy died at age of 77 after an arduous battle with brain cancer.

“Most importantly, he was the rock of our family: a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a man of great faith and character. Teddy inspired our country through his dedication to health care reform, his commitment to social justice, and his devotion to a life of public service.
“I have personally benefited and grown from his experience and advice, and I know countless others have as well. Teddy taught us all that public service isn’t a hobby or even an occupation, but a way of life and his legacy will live on.”

This is the second death in the Kennedy Family, a few days ago Maria’s mother passed  away.
