 Almost ten months after the release of the new X-Force we got the first hard cover collection of the first five issues of the new X-Force, “Angels & Demons”. If you couldn’t collect the trade paperback issues, I recommend buying this version as is not different from the paper comics, except it doesn’t have any publicity from third parties in his pages.

The story of Angels and Demons is one of the many subplots of Divided We Stand, in the verge of the mutant decimation and seeing many threats for the remaining mutants, Cyclops decide to reform in secrecy the X-Force to put down the many threats against mutants. Basically Angels and Demons don’t offer anything new to the mythos but is a good arc that tells the new incarnation of the X-Force. The art is really nice, it tries to evocate the art of Alex Ross but the story is quite simple, a few dialogues and mostly action oriented.

“A really clever comedian from Canada” are the words that can describe Kenneth Joel Hotz, a.k.a. Kenny Hotz.  You probably heard or seen Kenny in his “reality mockumentary” Kenny vs. Spenny which filmed alongside Spencer Nolan Rice (Spenny Rice) one of his best friends and fellow documentarian/comedian. The premise of Kenny Vs. Spenny was two friends competing in some strange competitions to see how is better than the other. The show was kind of silly but it was extremely appealing, even myself I used to watch the show from time to time.

The thematic of the show could be seen that was everything except “real” or “reality” because of the strange nature of the situations, but we could saw about Kenny’s kind of humor toward reality and that was cool because it was refreshing for its time, now with his new show Testees, we can see another facet of Mr. Hotz humor (a humor based on surrealism and the redneck living). Testees is not as appealing as KvS was,  in my own humble opinion the characters aren’t that likeable as Kenny or Spenny, even you can see some similarities of Ron and Peter of KvS, Peter being the winner and Ron being the lovable looser.

But beside these shows, Kenny is a talented documentarian who has achieved certain degree of success by showing the absurdist facts of reality, like Pitch and he is an award winning photographer as he served as photojournalist for the Gulf War in 1991.

As a conclusion we hope to see Mr. Hotz in more future projects.

Ok, sorry for the long title but it was a question as you could see. Ok, I was zapping channels and I saw one protest of parents who support HE8T and a group of gays who were countering the protest of HE8T. The people of HE8T argued that gays are immoral and that goes against every value of society. A few months ago where I was living my schizophrenic cousin she said something similar as the people of the rally, I thought “ok that’s her opinion” but then when her eldest grandkids arrived and they changed the channel to Nickelodeon and tuned the show Barnyard she didn’t said nothing about the transsexual cow Otis. What the hell a cow-man?!, the only logical explanation I can see is that Otis represents a transmen, because “he” and “his” lady-cow have a son, have a son.

I know is a cartoon and I know you will call me stupid, but is only an example to illustrate my point, that people critique when they want to, and I see many attitudes as hypocrisy because people will try to justify their bigotry points of view even when many attitudes are more open today, and if we take a closer look those positive attitudes toward the GLBT community you can see that they are more open, take a look on your daily programming and you will see gay and lesbian characters. So If you feel uncomfortable watching T.V. because of these people, then don’t turn on your television.

Ok, so this year Golden Globes weren’t the best at all, sure Danny Boyle won and Steven Spielberg got the Cecil B. DeMille Award… but what Award Steven don’t have? (sarcasm).

We can’t say that the ceremony was interesting, it was extremely boring, the pace was slow and no musical number, not even a piano to break the monotony of the long, really long acceptance speeches who by the way, the actors sounded shallow saying those long speeches… I know I wasn’t the only one who changed the channel several times to see something better.

The worst moments of the night were lamest comedian Sacha “Bruno Borat” Cohen and his lame-o jokes about Madonna, and Collin Farrel saying the F word when he won (what happened to the class and elegance of these awards?), why the heck the foreign press accept this douches in their awards, they should maintain the mysticism of the ceremony.

I can answer my own question; the 2009 Golden Globes were extremely lame, and I hope next year they are going to be better.

On a side note, YAY! Tina Few won again!, she deserves it.

Tico Angulo is photographer from Cartagena de Indias, who style goes with Urbanity and Impressionism. His photos are causing sensation because he reflects the naturalism of his subjects. Currently Tico is working as a freelance photographer and his fees are quite reasonable. Tico works mostly on national level, but he also can works internationally if the proper accommodations are made. The store is really cool and the fashion they offer is quite funky beyond the emo aura that surrounds Hot Topic. About two days ago I entered in the store for the very first time and I found several clothing pieces that I wanted, such as many Nintendo tee shirts and as well horror and gore memorabilia. The store is decorated with some counterculture themes, such as Rock and Heavy Metal themes; also some of the stores display a pattern of Urban Chick by giving a “city-like” to the decoration, you feel like entering an alley.

The prices are reasonable for the merchandise they offer, and the variety of the merchandise is quite amazing, almost any urban trend is in the stores, I recently bought a neo-vaudeville outfit and some punk accessories, some things that I had some troubles finding them but I found on the store. The webpage has a quite easy interface to navigate, is a perfect ten and you feel the spirit of the store in the site.

Probably if you are a parent and if you are not connected to the punk culture you will feel some apprehension to enter the store as many of the associates will sport a counterculture look, but sometimes prejudice can be more overwhelming than reality, as members of these so called countercultures are really friendly and open to meet new people. The staff is really friendly and they will help you with your needs.

My only negative comment, is that some of the stores have as environment music Heavy Metal and that can be annoying to some fragment of the segment of costumers, overall the store is really nice to go and buy.

In 2008 one of the founding members of the Avengers was killed in Secret Invasion #8. I don’t know if someone really is going to miss Janet in her comic book death as she was one of the least prominent characters in the past few years in any major storyline. Probably in Secret Invasion she was given a part just to kill her because there weren’t any major plots around Janet (not to mention that the character was also killed in the Ultimate’s, I wonder if the writers grew bored of the Wasp?).

I found the death of the Wasp a little bit Deux ET Machina, something that appeared almost out of nowhere just to explain the removal of the character, but well you know that almost no comic book character remains death, except for Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacey.

An interesting “experiment” as I like to call it, the show is ubber strange and it has dadaistic themes because of the surreal elements. The show as you may know is about a transman bucket of french fries, a milkshake with attitude and a dumb metamorphic meatbal, a strange combination of characters that don’t do absolutly nothing, is like Seinfield only more strange. The animation is simple but it has a je-nesequoi that is almost impossible to ignore it, probably is the biggest appeal of the show, the animation.

Every time I see Aqua Teen I think about Speed Racer, both show have “crappy” animation but the shows are good that is something impressive, I recommend Aqua Teen, is a five of five in my opinion.

A classic poem by Edgar Allan Poe, where the human soul is explored trough the mundane iconography of the Christian imaginary. The poem itself is quite fantastic due the rich prose, but is more amazing due the story of the professor who is punished by an ulterior force that takes the form of a raven. We can interpret the poem as a reinterpretation of Genesis where knowledge is punished because it corrupted humanity, we can say that the raven is an emissary of God who is behind the scholar as he sin towards God’s will, but well that is just a naturalistic approach on what the poem could be.

The first time I heard about this poem, it was in the first Halloween special of the Simpson’s, I though the adaptation was fantastic as Homer being the scholar, Marge being Lenore and Bart the Raven, it was the first time I got hooked to the work of Edgar Allan Poe; after the episode I started to collect all the works of Edgar, as it exposed another side of humanity that some people are afraid but yet it can be beautiful.
