WHEN CELEBRITIES TAKE A STAND

WHEN CELEBRITIES TAKE A STAND

By: Gustavo Lequerica Calvo

So what is the latest trend?, celebrity bloggers, yes I have said something redundant and not new, but it is something that can be seen as a latest trend between the luminaries, but in some way is fun to read celebrity blogs, we can see a little bit more of what our favorite celebrities think, but also to gossip about them with a more personal media, rather than reading newspaper.

But there is something that I don’t like about celebrities bloggers and that is, with their exposition as figure of opinion they can influence in a negative or positive way to the masses, but again I said something obvious, the thing that bugs me is that much of these celebrities aren’t well educated on the matters they expose, even to the point of making mistakes on their statements, I am not going to say an specific entry but if you check on Lindsay Lohan myspace you will see an example of a young individual with certain power but ignorance on political matters, although she has all her rights to express freely, but the readers should notice she is not a politologist or a well educated individual about current affairs.

In the other hand, celebrities can do something good when they blog, to put a most recent example check on Ellen’s webpage, that’s a positive example that go and vote, due the absenteeism that is seen on this country or the state of California where Ellen reside with Portia where the Gay Marriage can be banned… well to not make this entry long, the thing I want to say is analyze the content of your favorite celebrities blogs and don’t feel influenced really easy without analyzing the content of the message.

I agree that we shouldn’t be influenced by celebrities but some people are. Some celebrities do good deeds and should be emulated, but may celebrities just don’t do their research and just try to be popular.

By far my favourite blog read is Rosie. She’s perhaps not a celebrity in terms of the current batch of spotlight hogging tartlets but she’s a celebrity nontheless. Rosie doesn’t just blog, she also video blogs, and she answers questions.
