The Downfall of Obama

I am a Democrat but with today’s debate between Obama and McCain we can see how weak Obama is, he can’t even debate with his challenger, Obama it’s agreeing and praising almost everything what John McCain is saying, we don’t want a leader who stutters when someone thinks against him and we don’t want a leader who is like a student who is improvising on a show and tell because he didn’t investigate his homework.

It is a shame to see an unprepared politician who can even expose his own point of view in a calm manner, because he is acting passive aggressive to make his contestant look like a pile of manure, while John McCain show his experience in a calm way, showing a prepared man with an excellent oratory skills who indeed have experience, the oratory skills and the poise to defeat his rival with elegance and not with any fair game tactics, just to improvise his plunged image to the electoral masses.

We can now see how is more prepared to become the next President of our country and remember, novelty is not the meaning of a good change, while experience is the key to a better future.

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, TOP FIVE

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, TOP FIVE

By: Gustavo Lequerica Calvo

So we just saw the top five acts of season three of America’s Got Talent, but what we can think about these acts?, well in my opinion they were fabulous, almost to cero mistakes, the performers looked and acted as 10’s, like if they were performing all their lives, but then I got a question, who could win this competition just by mere talent?, I would place my bet to Queen Emily and not Neal E. Boyd, why my selection?, it’s simple, it’s a marketing strategy to find the next big star, but my bets don’t go only with Queen Emily but also with Eli Mattson, who is indeed a talented young man that can sing and plays the piano; I say this because if you analyze carefully the classical musical market is quite limited in the United States, and the television show is not marketed beyond the border to capitalize Neal more safely as the next Tenor along with Paul Potts.

If I am going to predict who is going to win America’s Got Talent, by default I have to say it’s going to be Neal, but to not be extremely negative, yes the guy can sing that’s is a reality but by the judges choice he is the man to win the season 3 competition.

List according to the judges perceptions:

Winner: Neal E. Boyd.

Runner Up: Queen Emily

3rd Place: Eli Mattson

4TH Place: Nuttin but Strings

5TH Place: Donald Brasswell II

My List:

Winner: Queen Emily

Runner Up: Eli Mattson

3RD Place: Neal E. Boyd

I only wish to be wrong, and that all the rumors we had heard about the behind the scenes of the competitions are just false, and the best really wins.

WHEN CELEBRITIES TAKE A STAND

WHEN CELEBRITIES TAKE A STAND

By: Gustavo Lequerica Calvo

So what is the latest trend?, celebrity bloggers, yes I have said something redundant and not new, but it is something that can be seen as a latest trend between the luminaries, but in some way is fun to read celebrity blogs, we can see a little bit more of what our favorite celebrities think, but also to gossip about them with a more personal media, rather than reading newspaper.

But there is something that I don’t like about celebrities bloggers and that is, with their exposition as figure of opinion they can influence in a negative or positive way to the masses, but again I said something obvious, the thing that bugs me is that much of these celebrities aren’t well educated on the matters they expose, even to the point of making mistakes on their statements, I am not going to say an specific entry but if you check on Lindsay Lohan myspace you will see an example of a young individual with certain power but ignorance on political matters, although she has all her rights to express freely, but the readers should notice she is not a politologist or a well educated individual about current affairs.

In the other hand, celebrities can do something good when they blog, to put a most recent example check on Ellen’s webpage, that’s a positive example that go and vote, due the absenteeism that is seen on this country or the state of California where Ellen reside with Portia where the Gay Marriage can be banned… well to not make this entry long, the thing I want to say is analyze the content of your favorite celebrities blogs and don’t feel influenced really easy without analyzing the content of the message.

Heroes, Comics turned into Television

As many of us today, we were waiting in NBC for the premier of season 3 of Heroes, we couldn’t wait to see it since the second season was a deception due the writers’ strike and we had the story cut, but now with the premier of Villains we see Heroes former glory that wasn’t shown on season one, but still it carried some of the ghost that were shown on season, on the terrible season 2, but at last we know who shot Nathan Petrelli, and it was a divergent Peter from another time line, I know is bold from me to say this but this season of Heroes is a tribute to the X-Men storyline Days of The Future Past, in which the alternative Peter Petrelli play the executioner and hero of the events, similar as Kitty Pride in the comics, I say season 3 is more a homage DofP because with the assassination or attempt of murder of a politician, see the similarity of Nathan and Senator Robert Kelly who both represent a key in the future of humanity.

The evolution of the characters is more clearly seen now, even with the first episode we observe that Claire doubts about her powers, such as Hiro who is clearly disturbed about the possibility that Ando can kill him, but the two best moments of the first two episodes were in my opinion, knowing Angela’s power (precognition) and what the process of how Sylar assassinate his victims, we know that he cut their heads in half and “ate” their brains, but we weren’t so sure about it, but now we could saw that he only manipulate the brains as if he was manipulating an object so he can understand how the power of their victims works,  we can assume that most of his victims don’t die at the moment but rather die of the blood lose, as the possibility is that the technique can kill due the shock and pain.

The only negative comment I have toward Heroes is, stop giving Sylar superpowers he is already powerful enough, even if he lost much of his previous acquired abilities he is still probably one of the top villains ever, he is as powerful as Nimrod, but I guess the writers won’t be happy until he is as powerful as Apocalypse, but now I wonder what twist will come to Saylar, if he is going to redeem himself or if his going to be the ultimate villain, I guess my worries with Sylar, he started as an interesting character but if the writers don’t plan very well he can turn into a pastiche of a 50’s villain.

But there so far so now, I can see that the best is about to come and I can’t wait to see it!.

OBAMA HUSSEIN SUPERSTAR WITH A TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT!

By: Gustavo Lequerica Calvo

The politics are like Broadway, you need to look fabulous, sassy, project the security while you speak some dialogue even if you don’t believe to have a winning formula, but if you want to succeed be a minority and people will be behind you because you are the sensation. Obama is like the play Joseph and the Technicolor Dream coat by Andrew Lloyd Webber, he is only a cantata that last only 15 minutes.

Obama’s magic lay that his Technicolor coat is in fact that he is a minority, and like Joseph brothers, people feel envy about Obama, but Obama is not original and honest as Joseph, but he is a great seller, because nobody like him had could sell himself as a product, but Obama is not original he is just mostly like a remake, a bad remake, of Clinton’s campaign, if you analyze Barak’s political program it seems like a rip off of what Bill Clinton did on his presidency almost step by step, but I guess nobody had analyzed this fact, and I seen that not many people had critiqued Obama’s “fair game” policy, it’s something dirty and we can see his weakness, a politician that is not feeling secure about his plan, and if we are going to vote to a politician who is not feeling safe enough, it’s better to vote in blank or go Republican.

For some reason, I do not feel trustful enough if this man is our next president; I wish I could vote but right now but that privilege is only for the Citizens and not the legal residents, I want to say that novelty is not the key for a better change, I know many of us we are discomforted by the dubious action of the Bush Administration, but as a play we want to have an amazing opening and a epilogue to remember.

So America’s Got Talent is Fixed?

Watching today results of America’s Got Talent I be sure the competition is fixed but also is a place to expose talent and be discover; except I made one mistake, that the 4 years old was eliminated but the Paul Potts Jr. Neal E. Boyd keeps in the competition and so far he is the only one who haven’t been said anything terrible coming from the Judges, if that article that appeared on the Enquire some time ago it’s true, then Neal E. Boyd is the defacto winner of AGT3, just because Simon Cowell is looking for another Paul Potts.

Even before reading that article, I imagine Neal would be on the top 5 based on the reaction of Piers on his audition, yes I know I have to give credit to Boyd, but his rendition of Nessun Dorma wasn’t espectacular and from his many perfomance I have only found the top 40 perfomance good, but not that great, on the other hand Queen Emily, Eli Mattson and Nuttin But Stringz does guys have talent and I can’t wait to see them on the finals.

The thing I want to see, it’s that the article of the Enquire is just pure especulation, but I can’t stop thinking about if judges are manipulating  behind scenes to execute the results the higher powers want.

Shequida Hall

One of the most unique acts of America’s Got Talent, really struck his-her path to go to the top 20’s by choosing I will Survive of Gloria Gaynor; Shequida Hall is so far one of the best talents in the history of the show because is something different, and is a different show, something unique, the act of Shequida is similar to the act of Jonathan Burkin both are super talented and give something great to the show, variety and if the judges have some of common sense they will leave on the show Jonathan. Piazzi and Shequida, because they are talented and different, as Terry Fator was on season two.

Shequida’s vocal range is quite unique because he-she can go from a very low baritone to a very high soprano but Shequida range is not on disco or on pop music, as an opera singer he-she is amazing, I wanted to see her singing Habanera in America’s got talent and if there any chance that someone close to Shequida reads this tell her that sing Habanera or Ave Maria I know it will blown the audience and the judges.

WHAT ABOUT SARAH?

WHAT ABOUT SARAH?

By: Gustavo Lequerica Calvo

Is not a movie, but a header that grabs your attention, this article is going to be really short, first of all at this very moment I do not have any political affiliations due the reason I am a legal resident and legal residents can’t vote, but if I have to vote I have to say that my support will go to John McCain but only to the half of my support will go due the reason of Palin, the lady who is going to be VP of McCain.

The reasons of my distrust and trusts of Palin are written down in the next list, probably the same enumeration you had seen it in Wikipedia, and I used Wikipedia list to explain my reasons:

Abortion: She is a prolife feminist, even if the neonate is a treat to the mother’s life and if there is a risk that the mother dies if the baby is born, should be there a justification to bring the baby to this world even if the mother pass away during the process, even if the doctors said that with an abortion there where a high chances that the mother could live?, it’s something complicated since feminism is the empowerment of woman and the decision she takes accepting the consequences.

Education: I have to agree with Sarah at 62%, my reason for these are that she said to teach creationism and evolution in school; it’s a free world and a world we can believe what we want, and if children and young’s are exposed to different theories they can form a wide range of knowledge about the traditions, the mysticism and the scientific education; but, on other hand I found very hypocrite of Palin saying about abstinence because humans are sexual beings by nature, and denied sexual impulses is a negation; we cannot close the sexual education programs, because there is a youth that is more conscious about their bodies than previous generations and is a youth that knows more about their sexuality than their parents, the best is to educate that youth about the diseases and human body to know what they are going to face when they feel their sexual impulses for the very first time, and to let them that they are not alone in what they are feeling; but I guess Miss Palin didn’t educate some of her daughters, because Miss Palin I can bet your daughter got pregnant because of the lack of education and the lack of trust with you to discuss openly her rising sexuality?.

Domestic Partnership: If Sarah is a good friend of the gay and lesbian community as she said, she wouldn’t signed that veto on 1998, to ban constitutional rights to Alaskan domestic partnerships, another hypocrite statement from Sarah Palin, even that she later signed a veto that that ban didn’t take effect in Alaska, but my question with gay marriage is what Sarah Palin beliefs?.

Lindsay Lohan: Viva La Lohan.

 By: Gustavo Lequerica Calvo

What can we say about Lohan?, sure, many things we can say about LiLo, many, many things, sure she got talent, but these days her talent is the least what is shown tabloids or PerezHilton who always give the latest gossip about the now fallen star; usually as a journalist I don’t agree with Perez point of views of entertainment journalist, but I have to admit that I make an exception with Perez, since both we have strong views on achieving what we want and I found Perez webpage really fun to read, because he puts entertaining in a fun a way.

One of Perez frequent subjects of attention is Lindsay Lohan or as he calls her LezLo, a notorious combination between Lesbian and Lindsay surname, ok, is not good attack a person due their sexual orientation and Perez should knew that, and specially at such age as Lindsay where she is learning to cope her sexual orientation and feeling, and in some way those remarks are homophobic, but Perez says something right, that is time that Lindsay should learn to accept her feeling and who she is, probably LiLo don’t know if you become a celebrity or as Perez Hilton says a zelebrity, your life becomes object of the public attention and scrutiny, you practically lose your privacy at the very moment you become famous and that is something every startlet in potency should know.

LiLo life has been marked with ups and downs as everyone knows, from her movies, to her addictions, to her male relations and notorious female companions, her last one been Samantha Ronson, who is speculated to be Lindsay girlfriend. But what with the denial?, is well known that Sam’s is a lesbian and all those pictures of LiLo and Sam snuggling is way beyond simple friendship, and many comment on Lindsay blog gives to us the idea and affirmation that LiLo and Sam are an item, but what all the hiding?, Lindsay is no more an Disney girl, she is an adult who can do what she wants with her life without fear the repercussions of a corporation, and her family loves Samantha, so that is plenty of acceptation, but if we look on the other hand Lindsay is fearing about her public image, but reading about 100.000 comment in her blog I saw she has at least 100.000 fans who support her, or at the end Lindsay is not lesbian or at least bisexual and she is doing all of this to get a simple free publicity boost in her career? The truth I don’t know.

Babylon A.D.

Published by glequericac under Art Analysis Edit This

When we think in acting, we think about been fooled by someone who pretends to be someone else, that’s the magic of going to the movies, because we like to been fooled by other people a group of people who tell a story, but when we think about the movie machinery we start thinking about a complex market that is mostly aimed at light movies and masses who don’t like to think too much about the plot of the movie, they simple want to go and have fun watching something that will act as a catharsis for their daily lives.

One branch of the cinematography history are the action movies, we can’t expect of these action movies a lot in terms of profound philosophical matters even if they try to incorporate it to the story, and we can’t expect too much either from the actors who offer a low variety of emotions, even they can be described as the triad N.A.R. who it goes with Neutral, Angry and Revenge, the three things you will see in an action movie, you never see anything different in the archetype of male action heroes even those archetype traits can be found in the heroines such as Alice of the Resident Evil Movies, where she never gets out of the prototypical action persona.

A few days ago I saw the movie Babylon A.D. a not so faithful adaptation of the book Babylon Babies by French author, Maurice G. Dantec, a book who tells about a dystrophic future where a new messiah is created by artificial means and a man has to save the so called messiah and bring her to Quebec, so different yet is the book in the adaption were the veteran turned mercenary Hugo Cornelius Toorop the hero of the first book The Red Siren it’s just a taciturn character named Toorop, I guess for the American audience if the hero has the name Hugo then is not macho man enough to be seen as a action hero, but I guess we don’t want a hero named Hugo, I guess for me is not a problem if the hero’s name is Hugo or Cecil, but I guess for the studio it was since the imaginarium is that the Macho-men should be called Ike, Spike or other names that rhymes with Ike or three letter names so the public can remember the name of the main character of the movie.

Not even the main actors could save the movie, is like seeing a bad episode of 24, we see Toorop as a Jack Bauer wannabe and not as the antihero as is portrayed on the books, but I guess the studios need to make appellative a movie by any cost, because many persons of the audiences wants always the same.
