The Pop Culture of Gus Lequerica

Do anybody knows the name of this girl? Maybe they are just friend but it’s just curiosity because on Who Dated Who? They say he’s dating Dania Ramirez.

This is probably one of the best episodes I’ve ever seen because it deals with the dilemma of animal rights and animal cruelty. The episode it’s center around Brian and how he sees that many people on a shallow level doesn’t seem to care when he kills another dog by accident and throws the corpse in a ditch; after that Brian embarks on a crusade to promote animal equality but only to find that much of the people he invites to the first meeting of his animal right coalition don’t cares about animals at all, that leads Brian to a depressive state where Stewie after committing a crime where leads to think the family that Brian died in a fire they only express how much they miss Brian, making Brian happy one more time.

There is one truth behind this episode even if it was shown in the most cruel way by exposing some sadistic sequences involving animal cruelty and that’s how many people neglect the less wanted from society, maybe it was a little too much the graphic sequences involving animals and how they were killed but at least the message was given. On a side story Lois hires the unnamed housemaid that was shown in Stewie Kills Lois and we learn that her name is Consuela (voiced by Mike Henry) and she is dominant toward the Griffins. 

Clearly there is something in The Cleveland Show that is not the same as his father show Family Guy, the sense of humor it’s basically different it’s not mature because is not similar as King of the Hill and it have the same shocking humor but it’s not funny at all or it doesn’t have memorable moments yet in his first season.

Today episode From Bed to Worse (A clearly pun on From Better to Worse) consists basically of two separate stories that are linked at the beginning of the episode; the first and main story shows a struggle of power to have the affection of Donna between Cleveland Sr and Rallo. The second story is divided in two sections, the first one it’s between Tim the Bear and his wife who got their grove back by having sex in the capitol and the second section of the second story is how Cleveland Jr. saved his stepsister Roberta by showing his man-boobs to a group of men with high libido in a Washington Club. I don’t know if this show is going to last as American Dad or Family Guy, it’s a little boring.

 One thing that I like about the 21st season of The Simpson’s it’s that it’s taking the strengths the show it had on the first season. The last week episode deal with the obsession that many people have with the “organic food” and now this episode took a much serious approach on massive hysteria that people have regarding the unknown, which I thought it was fantastic but the script was a little weak compared to last week episode. In Rednecks and Broomsticks while coming back from a ski vacation the family has to make an emergency stop that makes Homer hang out with Cletus as soon he discovers that Cletus makes an illegal liquor that Homer grows fond of it; on the second story while the stay with Cletus and his family Lisa got lost in the woods while playing hide and seek and she meets a Wicca coven which she befriends with but while Lisa is investigating about Wicca beliefs Ned Flanders thinks she is worshiping the devil and start a series of events that almost kill Lisa new friends. I give this episode a 3.5 over 5 because it was original and enjoyable to watch. On a side note do you know that the guest star of this episode Neve Campbell started in another Wiccan themed movie called The Craft.

I’ve been wondering if Tiger Woods is hiding something from his recent incident that maybe can cost his endorsements and by consequences his money; recently tmz.com said that according to some sources from the Florida Highway Patrol that Tiger canceled another meeting with them again that was going to be held today at 3P.M. and Tiger’s lawyer didn’t gave any exact reason to them about why the sportsman canceled the meeting. His lawyer gave all the information to the police but that was it. Something strange is going on.

Meet Lucas Rave is a 22 years old musician from Medellin, Colombia who is in Cartagena promoting is debut album (Hazte Llamar Amor trans: Make Yourself Call Love) where is expose a romantic pop song catalog about his experiences growing in the Antioquian region.  Lucas started to compose his first melodies when he was 12 years old but his first step in music were when he was six years old were he learned to play the piano but he dropped that instrument in favor of the guitar which years later would became his primary tool at the moment of composing his first drafts that would later became his songs. Lucas first single En Tu Puerta (In Your Door) where he sings about the process of falling in love and giving your first kiss. Lucas find inspiration in life in general but he likes to be discipline about the process of composing because that’s the moment as he says where you leave your mark on the song you wrote.

More than 200 tortoises went back to their habitat as they were liberated in the beaches of Isla Tesoro as part of an ecological campaign leaded by the Sea Institute of Islas del Rosario in Cartagena, Colombia. Lieutenant Mario Cabeza, also the Director of the Natural Parks explained that the tortoises are desired by many people because of their meats and shells and that’s because the specie is on the verge of extinction; he said that the event is gaining some results because people are respecting more the tortoises by watching them as animals and not meals with shells.

It’s simple according to Tupac Shakur an ignorant black man is a nigga and that is what the Mayor from Vallejo, California Mister Osby Davis is a simple nigga by the remarks he say about the LGTB community; it’s extremely ignorant that a man of Osby age says something like that because he lived the days of the Civil Right Movement where all black men where treated wrongly by the color of their skin and now he’s applying the same judgment of prejudice that was saw half of century ago but instead of the color of the skin this ignorant man choose to attack by the way a man or a woman express their love, that’s bias on the maximum potency coming from a man who hasn’t done anything; much similar as the Governator who are just jokes in politics. That’s the same reason people should start paying attention to who they vote for because when you have a bigot in the office there are going to be problems to take him or her out of the electoral job.

By the way the “Mayor” offered some vague apologize and said that he’s not going to speak about his faith again but the damage is already done and we Mister Osby we know what kind of looser who you are. Check the video here .

Beyond her tranny on dope looks I have to say that Stefanni Germanotta or better known as Lady Gaga has a heart and she don’t seem to be self centered like many other celebrities that only like money, money and more money. Recently Lady Gaga was interviewed by Ellen where the spoke about many different topics and later she sang a song for her dad who had open heart surgery not so long. It’s interesting to see that this girl is a juxtaposition where she really has talent even if that her main music genre is electro-pop she can play piano and she can sing, which is a great value today because many musicians tend to go on tracks.

Lady Gaga seems to be more family oriented rather than anything else, she spoke about how much she misses her family when she goes on tour, her early Christmas memories and that she is really grateful with her fans for accepting her music. I have to say that I hope she continues that way for the rest of her career, being humble is a characterstic that she should treasure.

I know this movie shouldn’t be here because it appeared only four years ago in the anthology series Masters of Horror but it’s a really awesome post-apocalyptic zombie movie without being thrown in the George Romero blood thirsty undead. The Dance of the Dead story was written by author Richard Matheson and it didn’t differed from the television adaption made by his son Richard Christian Matheson which the setting of the story is in a middle class nowhere town where Peggy a 17 years old live with her mother Kate after the world was savaged by the effect of a biochemical agent known as Blizz. Peggy is almost unaware of what’s happening in the world because her mother tried to protect her from reality.

The world changed in the past 20 years (as there are references that 2008 was a long time ago) World War 3 killed much of the population, the youth of America is revolting, and there is a strange chemical called Blizz who goes in the rain and whoever Blizz reach it kills the living being almost instantly by burning him to death but there are some side effects produced by Blizz, even if will kill the person it can let the body moving independently from the soul of the individual. Peggy (Jessica Lowndes from 90210 ) lives with her mother Kate(Marilyn Norry from The L World) in a small suburb, they lost their sister Anna and their father under strange circumstances. One day Peggy meet a trio of bikers who are seems to be in a strange business with a shady M.C. (Robert Englund) who is dealing a business in a near town called Meskite where people go to his club called the Doom Room to see a strange show involving dancing corpses who once where victims of the Blizz.

The made for television movie can be found in any video store by a really low price and it’s really worth of watching because it tells a story without relying on heavy special effects but with a great story and some pretty neat talent.

The clip of the next week (November 30 episode) episode of Heroes was quite ambiguous but it gave a view of what already the viewers know plus a few new things about the plot line of season four that so far has been slow like there is no tommorrow. The clip shows two plot, the first one was Claire and Gretchen arriving at the Sullivan Brothers Carnival and Samuel seems happy because “his prophecies” are coming true. The second part of the clip shows a struggle between Peter and Sylar-Nathan but we know that Nathan will be written out pretty soon due the budget cuts of the series. At least the show is taking strength and maybe the net couple of episodes will be really cool albeit there are less actors than season one the show in someway it’s still fresh. At least I can say to my favor that I’m not American and my first language is Spanish but for a guy who is American despite his heritage and can’t write at all without making some terrible grammar mistakes like Mario Lavandeira aka Perez Hilton; Journalism and Blogging ultimate nightmare, publish a second book about nothing that it can’t be seen on his decaying site it means that someone is trying to stick to his last remains of stardom. Beloved Scottish singer and Internet Sensation, Susan Boyle broke down in tears after a perfect presentation she broke down in tears. The 48 years old Scott was enjoying a lunch with her fans due the release of her debut at the Rock Center Cafe in New York City was apparently too much for Susan and slowly she started to become withdrawal and distant from the event, she started to suck her thumb and eventually she started to cry.

It’s good to know that Miss Boyle have a low level autism and probably the over stimuli was too much for Susan making her to turn distant and nervous of being surrounded by many people something that many psychologist don’t recommend if the autistic individual is not educated to be in large crowds.

Many news show started to question if Susan is capable to handle with her new found fame but none of the shows never said that the singer shouldn’t be exposed in the first place to that situation because of her condition. The incident happened just moments later after a quilt knitted by hundred of people around the world was given to Susan as a gift. Her spokesman said “That Susan was overjoyed by the reception she had from her fans in America” but truly the deal of the situation was completly different from what the spokesperson said about Susan outburst.

There hasn’t been many video games in history that had caused a long lasting impact for many years, there is pac-man, asteroids, doom and many others; but with Nintendo and with the Mario franchise probably the second game that created a lasting impact beside the original Nintendo version is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

The game was originally developed between a collaboration of Square (Now Square Enix) and Nintendo but due the dissolution of Square and Nintendo made sequels of this game impossible albeit there are some well known spiritual sequels with the Paper Mario Trilogy and Mario& Luigi but they aren’t the same as the original game they tried to emulate because of the differences between gameplay and development in general. Maybe if Nintendo take the same approach as Mario Galaxy, maybe there could be a spiritual sequel a true one in the future without involving Mallow and Geno.

The gameplay by any mean is amazing because of it’s simplicity and awesome 3D graphics (with an isometric point of view) that made the game a favorite between fans and critics of that time and even today the game has a big following as for the reason it’s better than many contemporary games that relies on graphics only. The story as many Mario games starts when Peach is kidnapped by Bowser but then it takes an interesting twist when a new enemy from the skies appears making all the heroes and enemies to work for a common goal: Destroy Smithy.

The battle controls are really easy making the game quite unique because the player won’t be frustrated to learn new complicated commands; the sounds and BMX are super awesome because they sound more realistic than other Mario games of the time but also making the sounds more enjoyable than other role playing games like Final Fantasy which it seems it never will have a final chapter. Mario RPG is a game worth of having in any collection, you can download it in roms or if you have a Wii you can buy it by US$8.

Today I learned a few new things at my part time and I have to say it has been an interesting experience working in a supermarket because I have learned a couple of new things about human dynamics; the first one is that one co-worker of mine drives like a loon and the second one is that organizing a family event like Thanksgiving is similar to spent a week in Disney World, both events have to be perfect from start to end and both events have at the objective to be perfect and create integration between friends and family members but opposite to a trip to Disney the Thanksgiving Day is a day important to many mothers and woman in general because that’s the day they can shine and they want their experience from start to end to be perfect (maybe Thanksgiving is like a trip to Disney for moms).Thanksgiving for many women starts a couple of months before the actual date where they think, analyze and practice some new recipes that they will present on the actual day; the go to the internet and try to search of what is the most innovative so far from the ingredients to the process. Then the day the go to the market they try to choose the best from the best even if they have to spend US$685.00 in “organic” food to prepare meal because according to some people I know they try to search the best of the best even if they have to pay more, but sometimes the best of the best is not how you pay but how you do it and if the guest enjoy your flavor.

The process in the supermarket can be stressful specially if you leave the shopping at a last moment and you can’t find what you like or you don’t know the location of the products, but you want to have them and you do the impossible even if sometimes if you can be rude to the clerks; that’s a way a mom described to me the Thanksgiving day, a day filled with pressure so that everything works. At the end there are the ingredients in the back of your car but the process hasn’t because after many weeks of rehearsal there is the moment of true where it can be filled by mistakes or by inconveniences but at the end all the effort even with the mistakes made the evening worth it and the process repeat and there are memories to share for another year about how wonderful we spent on Thanksgiving Day.

At last one episode that I truly like this season and is a Holiday episode. The positive aspect of this episode was that in the narrative structure was more like season one episodes as the reason is it was divided into three stories that seemingly interact with each other… except with this case was with Thanksgiving.

In the first story we see a Petrelli Thanksgiving reunion in which nothing really happened except that it was the first time we see Sylar back in his own body and the omen of “Nathans” end. There was more of exploration of the Nathan/Sylar paradox which let me to think that the writers had the idea of using the Ultimate Gwen Stacy character in which two character are fused into one leaving one character with the characteristics of the other one and maybe in this case it will be a more compassionate Sylar who is going to have the stoicism of Nathan.

The second story was with the Bennetts, this so far was the least interesting story of all the three presented because it didn’t showed anything interesting except that Claire is going to explore the Sullivan Brothers Circus, which let me to think that the writers had to find an excuse to write off Madeline Zima character of the series.

The third story and in my opinion the most interesting one of the three revolved around the Sullivan Circus which at least was exposed who killed Joseph Sullivan than none other than Samuel in a fist of rage but to cover his crime he continued to lie to the other circus performers that their charismatic leader was killed by someone else. In a weird thought now the fourth season it’s started to gather strength in his narrative and the dynamics and it even gave the looks that the show can survive without becoming a clone of Charmed .
